Hello

I wished to share our recent work of tool making.
Together with my friend after researching traditional timber framing tools we finally made some peaces.

Tools are made from 9260 Spring Steel (also called Silicon Manganese Steel) consists of 2% silicon content.

The steel is fully hand forged, we don't use a pneumatic hammer. The fracture of the tools looks antique.

The blade is hand forged, hardened and differentially tempered.

For anti rust, the steel has been threaten using traditional mixture of beeswax, linseed oil and turpentine.

Final sharpening and polishing made on felt - giving to the blade razor sharpness.

Handles are made from ash tree and then linseed oiled (can be custom made also from oak, maple, apple or cherry).

They come with handmade leather tip guards.

Hope you will enjoy them.

Of course it is soft wood. How many houses are framed with maple or oak? These are also often used for log home building, which is commonly cedar.

Are the backs of the chisels flattened and polished. They are beautiful and I would be interested in a slick.
