Hand forged viking esque axe

A very good friend asked if I would make him an axe similar to Rolls from the show Vikings. Double horned, etc. This is what I came up with. The body is mild steel, wrapped and welded eye, with a 5160 bit forge welded in. It is 9.5" tip to tip. Handle is 29" and it handles like a dream one handed or two. I look tired in the picture, normal job has me working 7 12's lately so I had just finished a 12 hour shift at 5:00 am, drove to the shop and spent the day forging this.

I can't imagine and I hope I never will imagine what it would be like trying to battle someone if they were swinging a weapon such as this axe.

Wow, that's awesome! It does look very similar, and you do seem like you'd fit right in as well! Props to you!

I've seen how much power can be generated by someone who knows what they are doing with an axe. It's hard to recover if they miss, but if they hit you the amount of damage will be horrendous.
i'd be more concerned about the fact that it doesn't look out of place in his hands. :D
I didn't actually realize how rough I looked with coal dust and grime all over me until I saw the picture.
