I just received a large sebenza 21 s35v and the grind is not uniform on one side is this just the tolerances from being hand ground as my $50 izula is the same on both sides

Lightly used from an authorized brick and mortar store po owned for a few weeks and the grind marks are all vertical

I would be very, very surprised if it came from the shop that way. It looks like you can see the original grind, with a newer grind over it. Either way, if you send it into the shop, they may be able to even it out for you, but I doubt you'd get a new blade. I have owned many, many knives from CRK and every one has been ground perfectly. This looks like a botched reprofile.

I tend to agree with HR--I am confident it wouldn't leave CRK like that. I am also confident that if you send it in they will do their best to even it out for you.

CRK uses a belt sander and then polish as well, they leave with a convex edge. It looks like I can see remnant's of the original edge plus it looks like there is a bit of a micro bevel also. I wouldn't blame CRK and I'm sure they'd agree.

Lightly used from and ON a brick and mortar store. Whoever the previous owner is doesn't know how to sharpen, probably telling someone how bad CR knives are right now. lol

Most respectfully (because I do respect the OP based on his previous postings), that is not a factory edge, at least it is unlike any CRK factory edge I've ever seen. Sadly, people who sell used knives make all sorts of claims, some of which are true. But the good news is that CRK should be able to fix it. Best of luck.

Okay so ill just send back for a sharpening when it bothers me more a few strokes on the sharp maker and its like a razor. Thanks for the help

I wouldn't be surprised if someone ran that thing through a Work Sharp or something.

Certainly not a CRK edge. Far too sloppy, and far too coarse.

Definitely not a CRK factory edge. That's a guarantee. CRK does use a belt grinder to put the initial edge on, then switches to a belt grinder with a leather strap which basically strops it to its finished convex factory edge. This edge pictured is neither.

We have all been burned my friend. Not that the edge cannot be made to look new by sending it back, but we have all been told a knife is like new, never carried only to get it and see that it looks like its been EDC'ed for months. Everyone's version of "like new" is entirely different. If your unhappy with the edge, send it in and they will make it as close to new as they possibly can.
