Here's the way I tie the hand guard. Having two holes makes it nice and easy.
First start off with a good length of paracord, about 20 feet to be safe, depending on how tight and wide you want it, and if you want a lanyard hanging off the end or anything. Be sure to seal the ends of the paracord with a flame so it doesn't unravel. Loop it through like so:
The short end is going down and to the right, and the long length is going down and to the left.
Next, take that long end on the left side and loop it through the front hole again:
From here it's easy, although a bit long. Take the cord and begin to weave it back and forth:
After a few times it'll look like this: (sorry about the brightness)
Near the end the guard will probably look something like this if you've done it correctly:
If you want it to be tight then you should push it up to the top, scrunching it tightly, and continue the weaving process again.
Lastly, you need to tie off the ends. This is a matter of taste, but I use this knot:
Pull it tight and low to keep the guard from loosening at all and you're all done. Congratulations!
