Hi all. Does anybody know a good resource for making home-made blades? Of course, I really should just get the "Primitive Knife Making" video by Hood's Woods.

Is Doc Ron perchance the very same as in Hood's Woods? I really enjoyed your article in Self Reliance Journal.

Doc Ron is indeed Ron Hood. By the way, the Primitive Knifemaking Video is great.

Thanks Folks!

That video was one of the ones we won an award for. We are pretty happy with the outcome.

Since we released that video we've set loose on the coutry an entire new generation of hammerheads. Rik Palm is one and he is now well on his way to becoming the new hot shot. It's very gratifying.

coyotlviejo,
IMHO the video is a very excellent source of information. Also calling bladesmiths and knifemakers to learn about ways to make knives and most important, heat treating, is another good way to learn. I think something Tai said on the video that is really cool. He said that it wasn't the fact that we are making knives that makes this cool, but the process is what really intrigues him.
Good luck!
Luke
