Gday guys. Ive been trying to get hand made damascus steel down pack from my forge although I'm having trouble as there are some cold laps where some of the steel has not welded together. I can only assume that this is due to my forge not getting hot enough..... or perhaps my impatience. So I'm wondering if I could get some advice on how long I should heat my forge up for and and long I should soak the billet for. Last time I pre heated the forge for approx 30mins before soaking the billet for about 20 - 30mins. My forge has two burners mounted at the top of a rectangular metal shell lined with fire bricks but I think in hindsight I should of gone for a cylindrical design. Any advice is greatly appreciated cheers
