Anyone know where to get a set of hand punches for kydex rivets? I have leather working sets for snaps and the like. Will these work?

Brian, I have a $2.99 set of hollow punches from Harbor Freight. I use them on leather and Kydex. They seem to work fine.

What I am looking for is a punch to set the rivets and fold over the rivet. (HArd to describe  )

Sorry Brian. I thought you were talking about hole punches.
I have an old shoe maker/luggage repair man that I buy leather from. He confessed to me one day when I was bitching about buying a new punch for a different size rivet, that he makes his own........Duh.....I just make them using the old grinder/electric drill lathe.

Brian, I don't see way the rivet setter that's used for leather wouldn't work for kydex. The one in the link I posted looks exactly like the one I have for setting rivets in my leather sheathes. You probably have one in your set. Get some kydex rivets and try it on a scrap piece of kydex.

I used a rivet setter from Tandy for awhile on Kydex. The eyelets I did were alright. I finally got a rivet press from Knifekits, and they do perfect rolls every time -- wish I had gotten it a long time ago. :grumpy: :D

If you have the time and inclination, you can make one yourself if you buy their "dies" and rework a Harbor Freight press.

THanks fella's. We'll see what I can do with the tandy stuff. Then forge on :D
