Hand sanding convex?

So far I've just been using my mousepad and some sand paper on a flat surface... but its murder on my hands having to apply all the force with my fingers. I've got RSI from too much computer usage How do you guys hand sand a convex knife?
This is a tanto I guess? The edge is convex and the flat isn't actually a flat, its a slight clip / swage, whatever its called. Also slightly convex.

I use a piece of a flexible stainless steel ruler with cork glued to it.

Got a 3/4" wide by 1/4" thick piece of black locust wood with a piece of leather glued to it. Wrap a layer of sandpaper around it and go to town. Much easier on the hands.
