What is the best brand of sandpaper for hand sanding a blade? I have been using a brand names Fandeli but I feel that it isn't giving the results that it hand sanding should.

Thanks.

Everyone uses rhynowet. But you asked for the The best?

3M microfinishing film with PSA backing.
That’s the best.

I’ve been using Mirka gold psa from their rolls, on a piece of 1” aluminum bar stock. The psa is great, don’t have to use feathering adhesive or hold the paper onto the aluminum sanding stick. I bought some rhynowet based on suggestions here, but the psa is so convenient I haven’t used much of the rhynowet paper.

Big plus one for rhynowet. I recently bought the 50ct packs of 120, 220, and 400. Big game changer.

For bevels, I've begun using EDM stones, which has been tremendous for fixing and preserving grind lines. I started off with the hard EDM stones from Falcon tool, but it seems the hard stones have a tendency to gouge, so I went to Congress tool's website (where you can buy individual stones instead of packs) and bought the mold master stones, which I think are a little softer, so we'll see what happens when they arrive. You have to experiment to see which ones will work best for you.

Edit: I see now that die maker stones are the ones we want, because they break down faster. Mold master breaks down slowly, per congress tool. I guess that was a misfire, but the stones are cheap enough, so I'll try them out before I order more.

I've used Norton pro sand and black ice with great results. I prefer any papers that will adequately hold up to a good wet sand. Some 3M papers also fit that bill.

I have Rhynowet, and it is great. I also have 3M Wet/Dry, and it is great. How do I go about telling that the Rhynowet is better?

Try other brands and pay attention to: Do you like it better than other brands.....Does your current brand perform up to your expectations...is there anything you complain about with your current brand?
There are tools made for specific purposes, and sandpaper is no different.
For example, imo, Rhynowet is the best for wet-sanding metal, but I like Rhynodry for handle work. It's got less grit glued on each sheet (open grained) so the wood dust doesn't clog up the paper as quickly.
I also recently purchased some open grit (for wood) 2x72 belts from Supergrit for handle work and I think these last longer than using the same belts I was for removing metal.
