Hand Shaped versus Machine Shaped?

What is the difference between hand shaped and machine shaped handles and which one would be better suited on a CG user NMSFNO? Is it merely a cosmetic difference?
 
Hand-shaped are smooth and machine-shaped have a pattern cut into them to give a grippy like texture.

I'm not sure how much of a handling difference it would make when gettin' down and dirty.
 
With the release of the NMSFNO I can now stop kicking my own ass for selling my Ganza Custom SFNO with Mag Blue Handles. I will buy at least one CG, beat the tar out of it, and live happily ever after.
 
Mods you can nuke this thread if you want I was too busy F5ing and did not check to see that there was another thread on hand shaped and machine shaped, sorry.
