Hey All,

Got a price check question if that is okay to ask here.

Glock 17, 2nd generation; round count approx 300; approx 98%

Glock 23, 3rd generation; round count approx 1000; approx 90-95% (with night sights)

Appreciate any feedback.

My gut says under $400 for the first and under $500 for the second, but my instincts have been blunted by big city prices.

If it is a private acquisition $350 for the first and $450 for the second seems like the max you would want to pay out. IMHO

Glock 17, 2nd generation; round count approx 300; approx 98% - $300 or less

Glock 23, 3rd generation; round count approx 1000; approx 90-95% (with night sights) - $350 or less

This is what I would pay. But I get brand new Glocks for $398 :p

My gut says.... but my instincts have been blunted by big city prices.

There is a tremendous regional variation in pricing of all guns.

In certain states you can't give away wheel guns or rifles, other places use certain autoloading pistols for doorstops.

Glock is no exception to that. Depends on where you are buying.

Gosh, how did we ever get along without your wisdom?

I was hoping to get a few more opinions, but so far I'm going to call it about a $75 difference with favor to the G23.

So if the guy with the G23 throws in 2 extra magazines and the guy with the G17 throws in 300 rounds of FMJ, its still about the same monetary difference mentioned above. Sound about right?

To be fair it hasn't even been 24 hours, not everyone is a night owl. So more opinions will come. :)

To put night sights on a pistol will be approx $60-$150 for the sights and then time/effort if you can do it yourself or cost of a smith to do it for you.

1000 rounds vs 300 rounds should be about a wash, since most Glocks last much longer than that.

So then you have to look at what difference there is between 2nd and 3rd gen and if you like which better.

Each should come with the original box, 2 mags, a cleaning kit (wire brush, and rod), and owner's manual.

On the internet and what stores I've seen Glock mags run about $20-$30, but the price will drop below $20 if no laws change. So two mags approx $50 added value.

9mm ammo has ranged anywhere from $10-$20 a box of 50 in the last few weeks on the net. 300 rounds approx $90 value (6 boxes times ave $15/box) (shipping not included)

Sometime what is apparent to a widely travelled expert such as yourself might not be visible to us simple folk.

Of course, to a night owl, it might not have been obvious enough that I was simply agreeing with your first post.

Don't give me all the credit for those kernels of wisdom about regional pricing variations- it's a loosely paraphrased quote from the Blue Book of Gun Values.

They thought it was important enough to state it in that way.

Owls can be grumpy too. I apologize for snapping.

It seemed unnecessarily redundant, but I can appreciate your point of view and what you were trying to accomplish.

My 2 cents, I wouldn't pay more then $350 either way but wouldn't be happy unless it was around $300. To put this in perspective both of those new would be around $400 and the night sights are about $75. At least that's what I paid for mine a while back.

Like someone else mentioned, location has a big effect on price but FWIW here's my opinion. ;)

Glock 17, 2nd generation; round count approx 300; approx 98%
Assuming I could find one, local prices for a new G17 are running around $490 in my area, so I would probably not want to pay more than $350 for this one.

Glock 23, 3rd generation; round count approx 1000; approx 90-95% (with night sights)
Again, locals prices in my area for a new G23 with factory night sights are running around $540. I would probably consider no more than $450 for this gun.

prices sound about right to me (ie $350 -400 for the 9 and $450-500 for the .40).

nite sites only glow for a certain amount of time, 8-10 yrs IIRC, so unless i knew when a certain gun was made i wouldnt pay much of a premium for the things, i have a berretta 92 i got in '00 or so and the sites have certainly dimmed a lot, i would say 90%.

We just turned in our Dept. Glock 21 and 23's. They are being retailed to the general public for $285.00 out the door. So I would think NO MORE than $350.00 for a used weapon.

Those guns would sell for at least $400 here in Atlanta- and they would sell FAST at that price. Glocks are super popular here (with Smyrna being just down the road).

I just paid $519 for a new G19 here in Florida. It was on sale and I had to drive about an hour to get it. In my town they were selling for around $560 or more so I thought I got a deal but now I'm not so sure...I'm happy either way though so I guess it doesnt really matter.
