I was clearing buckthorn the other day with my M43. It was cold and I was wearing gloves (you can probably see where this is going). The thing nearly flew out of my hand and the the thought of such whirling, uncontrolled death scared the hell out of me.

I thought about grip tape of some sort for the handle, but the hardware store and the sporting goods store had nothing-in fact when I asked about grip tape, they looked at me as if I asked to see their selection of zombie repellent.

My asking about "grip tape" may be the wrong term, but any and all information on how to improve the "grippiness" of the handle would be greatly apprectiated.

GOTO any skateboard or head shop and ask for board tape and they will hook ya up...Sanding the handle's finish a bit will also help somewhat

Hope this helps

BTW...I fear zombies are trying to eat my poptarts!

Same thing's happened to me; just enough of a slip to imagine what might happen. I concentrate when I work with a khuk. A simple task, requireing the concentration of meditation.

These blades really do demand respect and full attention. They all do but these REALLY DO!

I had a simalar problem..rather than change my khukri i just changed gloves..try using the rubber coated "oyster" type gloves..they are thin enough to feel the khukri yet padded enough to pull brush with...and since they are designed to hold rounded slippery objects they hold knife handels really well

Having a handle with a ring helps too. I know this won't help with your current problem, but I find the ring is very useful in controlling a blade.

I use board tape on a couple of my handguns. Cheap 'ol git's checkering job.
Some gun ranges that have IPSC or IDPA carry it, the gun racers use it alot.

Go to a golf or tennis pro shop. They'll have tape.

While board tape would work well, I would think that it might be a little rough on bare hands. My personal recomendation, would be to get the grip tape used by hockey players to wrap the handles of their sticks. (that's what I'd do).

The tape I used to use on racketball paddle handles would do it. Probably the same thing you would get at a tennis shop.

I second the racquet-tape suggestion. Grippy as hell, held on by the friction of the overlapping wrapping, and a single bit of sticky tape at the finishing end - you won't get adhesive gunk all over your actual handle, when you want to take it off.

Comes in day-glow colours too, so you'll never lose it!:D

It's what I'd use, if a light sanding of the handle itself wasn't enough.
