Hello All,
I have a smallish, axe head in need of some refurbishing for this falls adventures. It has no sheath and a handle I put on a few years ago then forgot about the tool.
The result I am looking for is a small hatchet with a strait hawk type handle to tuck in crossway's in my belt in the 6 o'clock position, to be quickly at hand in a number of bush activities.
My handle options are, sand and dremel the existing shaft to produce the desired effect or make a new one. I have a 6 foot fall 3-4 in diameter yew log, looks more like a branch but its a log. Would using yew in the round like this produce a strong enough handle? Or will the grain be wrong?
For the sheath I want something that can be removed quickly, so leather or kydex would work best.
Any recommendations for either? Thanks,
