What's your personal favorite? Me I really like the old straight leather washer handles and find them usable in almost every situation with up to a 7 inch blade (such as the Navy MK2 Ka-bar or the Case 337Q). Sadly though the entire industry seems to have moved in the past 20 years to semi crescent handle shapes and gotten stuck there. Imagine our world if some of our favorite blades with the half moon shaped Micarta handles, good only for chopping tasks, were available with straight leather or cord wrapped utilitarian handles as an option. How many of us sitting on the fence would buy one then?

One of the best handles I"ve recently come across is on the Tarani 5.11 Investigator. Very good grip, feels solid. Before that, I"d have to say my Socom was among the best. A recently traded Mini Commander also excellent.
I think handles are very personal, that's why it's hard when purchasing online to know if a knife is going to be for you or not.

Agree that the versitality of some handle designs is truelly a big deal. The USMC "ka-Bar" is exactly the knife to point to. The handle may not be perfect for every task - but amongst other virtues -allows the knife to be used as a half assed shovel - a task it has performed well enough to save way more lives than it has ever taken in combat.

I speculate about taking an AD or a RAT3 and cutting down the handle so as to fit a Kabar type washer system handle onto it.
