Just a thought, during many o' hogs adventures in bushcraft, have any of you used the indent from a fastener as guide for a bow drill? Seems like it can be done from what I see, but am wondering if heat build up will harm the fastener? Anyone done this completely?

Tyrade and I have. Works great I don't think you could generate enough heat to harm the tubing.

Yup, worked fine. I seem to remember having to put a small amount of grease on the tubes to keep it from squealing too much when the spindle tip polished up. It was a little while ago that we tried it. I usually start my fires the old fashioned way, like my forefathers, and their forefathers before them. Diesel fuel and/ or a propane torch. ;) :D

Lol...I hear ya. The grease application is a must to keep from attracting zombies. Thanks Ty for your input as well. It also may help some new to bushcraft people know that "ALL" you really need to survive is a Busse Combat Knife!

Verrrrry interesting. As an aside, I have an Outdoors Education teacher friend who recommended Frito's as a great fire starter. Tried it, and they burst into flames! And a healthy survival snack to boot...Cheers.

Going try the Fritos tip next time I get out in the woods. Probably smells delicious too.
