Which came first, the slotted screw or smooth fastener on the straight handled knives?

Smooth handle fasteners came first, then slotted screws, then the tube fasteners I think.

BTW randucci, great knife you got on ebay. I would check it; could be 5/16". It's one of the first INFI SH's I think.

Is the Mean Street on eBay missing one of its fasteners or is it my eyesight gome bad??

Thanks for the answer.
.
KX1A, I think it is just the angle of the picture, look at a couple of the following pictures, it looks to be there.
.
Andrew, I'll send you a couple of pictures and tell me what you think.

:D

I concur with Andrew, smooth fasteners came first then the slotted screws.

BTW, great looking collection you got there Randucci
:D:D

The way I understood it was that the "solid" and "slotted" fasteners are one in the same. Only difference being the solid is simply the slotted with the head cut off and polished down.

Is this incorrect?

KXIA-It' is the angle of the pic.All the fasteners are there.Be pretty hard for one to fall off!

That is what I had heard, but I think the design was smooth finish first, then to the slotted method.

Maybe to assist in scale removal when refinishing????????

Bill, I thought the same (my eyes, not your..LOL) but it has to be the pic/angle.

Thats one of the methods I've used for fastening scales the fasteners come slotted and long so when your finished they look like solid pins...
