Hello to all. New here to Blade Forum.

I was wondering if anyone could refer me to someone who could Re-Coat metal handled knives like the Gerber MK II and Command II?
This is like a baked on Tuff-Coat or Armor Hide finish. I have some dive knives I would like to re finish in "International Orange." or "Coast Guard Orange" Kind of a tough color to find.

Any help in finding a re-finisher, or an explanation of the process would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Long gone but good stuff that Armorhide. There is a fairly new industrial product on the market that comes in the form of a spray. Contact the very popular firearms products "wishbook" Brownells of Montezuma, IOWA. The new spray goes on wet and drys to a grip tape like finish. It is commonly used to apply a finish on specific exterior parts of firearms where a no slip grip is demanded. Such as for action shooting sports. But I' m not sure if it available in colors. Probably just black.

May need to use their new 515 area code. Good luck.

Nakano,

Does this stuff require a primer? How well does it adhere? Have you actually used or seen it?

Thanks Nakano2,

That Armorhide was pretty tough stuff.I think it was baked on, after spraying.
I will check out Brownells and see what they have. I am looking for an "International Orange" color. Similar to "Hunters Orange" "Safety Orange". I know theres "Bear Coat" which is similar to Armorhide, but those guys don't have the "Orange".

Thanks for the input.

Shucks. I looked thru my current Brownells catalog and cannot locate that product. I am not sure if a primer is required prior to coating as I' ve not had the opportunity to try it first hand. I will seek the source of my info and try to confirm this. I do however see a product called wrinkle coat where after application the surface actually dries to a wrinkle finish! I can' t be sure if this is the same as I was informed about. Will get back soon...
