Still working on putting the handle on the 18" AK that I was working on at Khonvention.

Question: The little rings and grooves around the handle. Is there some commercial type of stuff I could work down into them to make them darker than the rest of the handle? I thought about graphite or charcoal from a fire and then sanding the outside down again.

Anybody got any suggestions? Do they make something for this?

How about a permanent marker pen? I think the ink would stain the rings as well as anything else.

I can't wait to see how it turns out HD...

If you're going to oil finish it then the ink would be best- though some will be removed by the oil. If you're going to seal it with a urethane then why not paint the rings the color you want?

Fine-point soldering iron or woodburner pen.

Woodworkers use something called inlace to fill areas.
Liquid inlay.
Basicly a plastic? powder that you mix into a resin
& add hardener. Lots of colors to choose from.

Same principle discussed here for coloring epoxy for handle repairs.

Perhaps that inlace would do for my Holy Carp on my Cherokee Rose?:D ;) ;) ;)

Now the question is where to get it locally?:)
