Has anyone ever made a "conventional" handle for a Becker Necker? I know there are a variety of wrap options, I'm wondering if a regular handle is possible. Also, can someone tell me the length of the handle on the Necker?

I had Scott Gossman put micarta scales on three of my Neckers a couple of years ago, made a lot of difference.

I made some handles for mine from walnut (they looked very nice on the knife) and i even made some from od green plastic i salvaged from an old 1950's vacuum cleaner and i did double wraps and strider wraps but i went back to a single layer wrap of paracord since it is light and unnoticed under the shirt. By the way the most comfortable grips were the walnut and the simple strider wrap.

The handle is about 3 1/4 inches

sd550., if you've got pics of your Neckers with the micarta scales would you mind posting them? I'm interested to see how it looks. I picked up a couple of pieces of micarta with the intent on making some scales for it but I haven't been brave enough to try yet, ecspecially since I have absolutely no experience or knowledge as to how to work with micarta.

There will be Micarta scales available from Ka-Bar in the near term.......Six Months or less I think....Think is the operable word here....I am hoping BLADE Show.... Maybe they could look like the one on the left. Reportedly made by Sheath Mechanic. They are made out of Kydex. Interesting idea to try. The Sheath Mechanic no longer is in business. I believe an injury kept him from being able to continue doing the work.

What I'm curious about is whether it'll be more like the kydex ones in that it'll cover the "bottle opener" or have that part cut out?

Personally, I'd rather have it covered as it would probably make it more comfortable for large handed people like myself, but I would understand if it didn't.

One of the things I really like about the BK 11 (Old, new, & San Mai version) is that it offers a lot of blade (Nice bellied 3.25" blade) for a relatively small OAL (About 6.75" I believe).

Also, will the handles be made out of what the current Beckers are made out of or possibly G-10 or micarta?

Great! Now I'll have to buy another necker, but I can't pass up a necker with wider grips! I'm lovin the one I have now.
