Trying to restore a small collins felling axe, and struggling to find a replacement handle. The eye is not oval, Its rounded on one end, and tapered on the other. Length is 2 1/16 long by 11/16 wide. Currently has a 24 inch handle, but I would prefer one about 18 inches long to meke it easier to pack. Anyone know a good source?
Thanks

I just received 4 handles from House Handle Co. I paid extra for hand picks of the AA grade, with no finish, and specified grain no more than 45 degrees from vertical. All the handles looked great and one was a bit "special" (in a good way), but I'll post pics of that one when I finish it next week.

Try a 'house axe' handle. I recently found a decent one at my local Do-It-Best Center. You might need to thin it down a little with a wood rasp.

I can vouch for Tennessee Hickory on eBay. The man who runs it is very nice and easy to talk to, sent me a handle with good grain orientation when I asked. He might be a bit busy right now though as he has a new baby boy :)
