I need some help in finding handles for my FT Hawks. I have two Buck hawks and I have to say that they are amazing.
One handle was split by hitting it with the other hawk and the other has a piece that chipped off of the bottom on a bad turn while I was trying to get my distance down.
I know that I can get the handles straight from FT but to be honest the $9 in shipping PER $6 handle is a little hard for me to swallow. What should be $18 in handles is coming out to $45 (I want to get one extra).
Any body have any more cost efficient alternatives that will fit a FT hawk well?

Thanks for the help!

That's one drawback of the Ft. Turners, the eye is smaller than most hawks. You might try picking up a couple from a vendor like Crazy Crow and shave it down. Maybe also order a mouse hawk handle to see if it's a closer fit.

Once you find a fit, you'll be able to stain and oil the handle yourself.

OR...get a couple of cheapies for throwers that you know you can get cheap handle for and save the Turners for camping.

I started with some cheapos from Crazy Crow and still use them.

I just spoke to Dana this morning, and also if you check the website it says the same thing. Shipping of multiple items will be combined, but it doesn't show up that way on your invoice. Good luck.

the small eye you speak of would be an advantage for a composite handle.

i have never hafted one of those.

do you really like them? i might have to give a Ft. Turner a try....

Vec, I have one inbound. I plan on buying at least one more in the future. How much would it be to have you make a handle?

i don't know, since i don't have experience with the brand yet.

sometimes these heads have something odd going on inside the eye, which causes stress risers in the handle, like the burrs in Cold Steel heads that occur inside them frequently, or the odd folds inside bi-metal heads that can make a handle difficult to do right the first time.

when ya get it, let's have a look at the eye and maybe we can make it worth your while to let us do it, brother.

sorry to be long-winded in reply.
