How would a person do the following
I would like to router a series of grooves into a wood handle for a knife blank I have
I would like to set the grooves at a 45 degree angle to the centreline of the knife
Might there be a template that I might be able to buy/use

My idea was to make grooves in the wood that resemble the leather wrapping on the k-bar
The blank is a Damascus blank
I thought the grooves would be neat to compliment the steel pattern

Here's a couple of questions:

How deep and wide do you want to make the grooves?

What type of cross section? half round? v groove?

What type of wood is the handle?

Do you have a picture of the look you are trying to achieve?
