I have a fixed blade I had made for me by a maker, the handle is serviceable, but I want it modified to feel better in my hand and give the knife better handling characteristics. Any possible help or who could help me modify it? I am thinking of rounding out the handle scales and making the brass washers flush to the handle. It basically is a 8 inch butcher type knife of L6 or similar steel. I was even wondering if some steel could be drilled out In the handle to balance it out. Any ideas or who might be able to do this is appreciated and to get some insight how this project can be done. I did not want to send it Back to the maker since it took along time to get it in the first place and he is having health issues and may not be able to help.

A couple questions, what kinda of handle is on it and can you post pics? Reshaping should be easy enough with some decent files and sand paper. Drilling out metal to skeletonize the handle might be difficult depending on how the handle is assembled.

i agree with fervens. post a pic so we can see what you are talking about. drilling out steel sounds like you are going to have to remove the current scales, but that assumes they are permanently attached.

Thanks guys, I will try and get a pic on here to show you. After playing with it, I think the sand paper and filing sounds like it could work. I will try to download pics from my phone.
