I was wanting to send my Gladius in for a spa treatment and new scales when the custom shop re-opened and had an idea, but not sure if it is or has been done.

I like the look of g10, but like the grip of micarta. So I was thinking a black g10 base with the maroon micarta placed over the top in the grip area. Would give me the best of both worlds and give it a unique look (currently it has pumpkin).

It is satin and Brown is making me a mutant Praetorian inspired sheath for it

Sounds like a great color combo, but do you think you might have gotten the process backwards by getting your sheath first?

There are some specs. in the handle area that are pretty specific for each individual knife...especially if you want a "custom" fit...

although, the CS <when it's back up and running> can probably retro fit your handles to your BB sheath.

I'm not sure that if Busse would be willing to laminate g10 and micarta together, but it definitely would be a unique look. It would end up mostly looking like micarta anyway though since that's the majority of the surface area that you would see.

If you are going to go with the standard thickness scales and standard machining then you probably don't need to worry about getting the sheath made before hand, but if you are in any other way customizing the scales I would hold off on the sheath until you get the Gladius back.

Yup!!! This is the exact picture I saw that made me think about it. But if they couldn't do it with the micarta, I would be happy with this type of handle too. I just like the gripiness and feel of micarta.

As for the sheath, has been in the works a long while before I had this idea and who knows when the Custom Shop will re-open. But when I do, I'll send it in the sheath to help alleviate any issues

I guess I could do a two tone canvas. Black bottom with the maroon grip area. Would get the same look and be all canvas
