Handle Length for a custom

I asked in stompers forum, i'll ask here too. Just put in an order with john but now i'm rethinking my handle length. I have a 4" blade, as per law in CT and i told him i wanted a 4.5" handle. My thing is, when i grab a ruler, my pinky comes to the 3.75" mark but the part of my palm thats towards the butt of the knife comes to 4.5. What size handle should i get? I've only had production knives so my knife sense is all thrown out of whack now that i can pick every component.

Puma white hunter. Thats about it. I mean my griptilian and blur have decent handles but this knife will be heftyish and i'll be using it more so in the woods.
