Handle liners for BK9

I've seen quite a few where guys have used CD case covers as handle liner for their BK9 in order to make the handle feel bigger, like with BK2.
I have this idea that it would look good with leather liners in there......??
Has anyone ever tried this? Nice thick veg tanned leather. I'd imagine that being leather it would 'give' a bit so you would be able to tighten then screws quite a bit.
Only issue I can think of with this application is that it might allow moisture in if it gets wet.
What you guys think?
I have ideas for a 9 before even owning it....:D

I made some out of 1/16" rubber...they worked really well, they added shock resistence.
I would post a picture, but I sold them on a BK9 a while ago.

I was talking about leather liners just the other night in chat. You should give it a go and see how they come out. Paired with some wood scales and a stripped blade it would look great I think.

I was thinking about using lether also just the other day. Not so much wood scales though. I like the grivory too much. ;)

I'll add another go for it and see how it works. I also think it could add some shock absorption. Getting wet might be an issue if you didn't do anything about it when they did, but nothing that taking them apart and letting the leather dry before the next use wouldn't fix. You could also treat them before installation with some kind of sealant, mink oil, Scotch Guard, what have you. Works pretty good for my boots, no reason it wouldn't work for liners.

And, as always, pics are mandatory.

Guess I could get some leather scraps from local shoemaker.......or an old belt......man the mods are endless!

That could actually look damn cool, especially with some of the nice wood scales we see around these parts.

Heck, if you waxed it good you wouldn't have to worry about it getting wet.
