Hey Guys
Who here wishes they could add liners to their handles ?
Im not sure if this thread will do much good, but Wouldn't it be pretty cool if they opened CS STRICTLY for adding Liners ? Even if only for a few month, it would be really nice.
Garth ? What do you think about this ?
Thanks.

It's a great idea. Everyone's hands are different, some like thin handles, some like magnum. This way the shop could machine only one set of scales but people could customize the thickness via adding liners.

I'd be all for the option to add liners. I have an older Ratmandu that has liners from back in the CS days and, as much as I like my InFIdu, that old RMD just feels better in my hand. I also had the CS add liners to an original Hell Razor with flat (non-magnum) scales and it made a big difference.

All my old style ERGOs would be on the way to the CS! I've added sports tape to thicken up and soften up the grip.

Ist Blade i ever got from the Shop (Swatmandu) in Cupidganzaa, i got Red liners. They stopped offering them shortly after :(

It would be pretty Cool if they opened the Custom Shop. But not for strictly liners. I want bowie Tips, I want Nuked Swedges , I want Gimping, I want Camo coatings , I want bone handles , I want ... Aw Hell who am I fooling. Those days are gone for good. Everybody talked about how great Sr101 and Infi are and now everybody knows about it and the demand is through the roof. The Good Ole days were the Best days. Just look at the prices. It's impossible to keep a good secret Nowadays.:)

I am all for it. My hands don't work normally because of some old injuries. I tend to like a larger handle because I don't have the dexterity for a smaller one. I do my physical therapy all the time. As I get older it only gets worse. All of my custom knives I make have larger or fatter handles and so far everyone really likes them that way. Another 1/8 overall makes the world of difference to those of us who have physical issues like that.

I'm the opposite, I prefer thinner blades. However the look of liners is nice, I don't want to add liners to add thickness, I'd add them for aesthetics, then have the handles smoothed down thin thin thin.

I am with you there!!! I am even back in school and I use the "My first Ticonderoga" pencils designed for the kindergartener lol! I sold a jackmandu that I loved awhile back because there was no one to do liners for me... Nove I have a Rodent 6 without the top guard to replace it, much better for the hands!!!

Thats too funny. I use those same pencils, even now. They are so much easier for me to use. A smaller pencil actually causes me physical pain to use for any length of time. I tend to use those rubber sleeves on a mechanical pencil. Those slide over rubber things makes it easier to grip we well. I steal those from my kids lol. Those help too you should give it a try on a smaller pencil, makes it just big enough.

Would love to be able to add liners as an option to a standard Busse offering! Especially on satin blade finishes! Think of how cool the bunker buster would be w some liners in there? Freakin sweet!

I've noticed lately some of mine have different thicknesses on their own.
I bought 2 2G-BMEs, one with tan canvas, one with red/black G10- the canvas one is noticeably thicker than the G10 one.
I also bought 2 SOS-LEs, but both had G10 (sold one), but one was thicker than the other. (tan/black & red/black - the tan/black was thicker).

Comparison of the BMEs-

Materials "AS Received" from the manufacturer will vary from "Lot to Lot" then factor in the HAND MADE by individual workers and there in lies the variance in thickness. We are buying Custom Hand Made Knives made to order even though some options have been removed from the shopping list. I do agree that Liners are one item I would like to see brought back!

This is interesting. I have medium sized hands and for a long time searched out smaller handles for weight/mobility etc, as well as having less material to poke me in the ribs or stick out during horizontal carry. However I've come almost completely to the other side and am loving beefier handles.

One of my first Kin blades was a Scrapper 5 with a mudder handle and was so happy with it, but after extended use I really wanted to wrap it in hockey tape. Recently I picked up an NMFSH, which is a beast, but it's also one of the most comfortable and and well balanced knives I've ever had.

Even with kitchen knives where I've used some nice sleek handled chefs knives, I've recently started switching over to some of the stuff they use in commercial kitchens that have big plastic or rubber handles.

Id love to get Garths opinion on this, if He thinks theres a chance of this ever happening. Now that He us Production Manager and all lol

That is funny!!! I do the exact same thing!!! Except I don't get to steal them from my kids...(N/A) I'm the grown man buying them from the store for myself!!! I was shocked how much less my hands hurt after using my first Ticonderogas!!! The larger grips really do help a little extra thickness goes a long way!!!

I recently got lucky enough to get a Swatmandu with black G10 liners!!! WOW FEELS LIKE A CHAMP!!! And my FAT ASH was instant love!!! but sad to say my Fudge was not :(
