Handle making thread

Is there a thread dedicated to handle making? I did a quick search and nothing jumped out at me.

If not should we start one?
Could you include "repair" in the title? "handle making/repair thread". That would broaden it enough so we could include our various haft projects. I'm going to post a family photo of all the hafts I've made or repaired so far later. Great idea for a thread! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's too!

Yes, It could include: handle making, modifications, repair, material choices, Design....

I wouldn’t mind it. Got a slab of ash from a coworker and going to try and make some puget sound handles. Might need a pointer and visual here and there

There is quite a bit of handle making in the "what did you re-hang" thread.
That would be a good “stickied” thread and it makes me wonder about some currently stickies that rarely get used.
Is there an active mod in this section?
A lot of people do single posts for information on axes but the Axe Info sticky isn’t used for that. Consolidating those into one thread might be tidy.

I'm not aware of any mod that patrols here, but I imagine mods at large check in. If you want to, you could PM one to see about changes.

I've done quite a few hammer handles, and one axe from scratch. Been using ash, as hickory is hard to find here in the puget sound. I prefer octagonal handles on my hammers, they index so well.

Done quite a bit of repair and rehang to existing handles as well.

Been using a 1 lb cut of wax free shellac sanding sealer and then several coats of truoil for finish. The truoil is nice as it prevents blisters and is very easy to repair. Prob go with BLO if I do larger axe hafts in the future though.
