Hey all, I was trying to identify the handle material on this custom in my posession. I think it is Deer Antler, but I could be wrong.

I also wanted to know if there are any types of cleaners available for this type of handle? I have a small orange mark from the leather tie down strap on the other side of the handle that I wanted to remove.

More info on the knife if it helps.

Maker: Bob and Christy Schopp (BCS) Custom
Steel: 1095 High Carbon Steel
Fittings: Brass (Leather? spacer between handle and hilt)

Let me know what you guy's think.

Here is a shot of the orange mark: http://www.nativacarclub.com/images/CustomBCS2.jpg

It is very possible that it is deer antler. Almost looks too thin for elk. The orange mark looks like stain from the sheath. May be tough to get out unless your refinish the handle.

Yea, it's a stain from the leather tie down. I secured it around the handle when moving so it would stay in the sheath better, which I should have never done.

Any recommended products I can use so I don't damage the antler material? Plain old soap and water?

Does refinishing just entail a bit of sanding? If so, can anyone recommend a good grit range?

Also, are there leather conditioners out there? There's a small stain in the leather on the the belt loop, can this be removed?

You can try a bit of acetone on a rag. Dab off the area. It may take some out of the handle but probably not. More than likely it will need to be refinished. Sand it down until the stain is gone. However this may be more than just a little bit. Depends on how deep the stain has gone. If it were mine i would leave it and accept it as a bit of character.
