Can someone tell me where to get some thick leather to make stack washers for a handle. I'm rehandling an axe and I can't find the right thickness. I need 3/16 or 1/4 inch thick. Thanks.

if you can find a saddle maker some where in your vicinity, that would be your very best bet. You want 14 to 16 oz. weight leather (skirting). 1 oz weight is about 1/64" in thickness. Saddles are made from 14/16 oz veg. tan leather, and If you were at my shop I'd send you home with enough scrap to do 20 axes........that is if I still made saddles, which I don't. Good Luck!

Found a local (very local, like 4 miles from my house) saddle maker who said he would sell me some leather. He also asked if I made leather sheaths I said I didn't. Maybe a future partner. Thanks
