What is your preferred material for a handle? Obviously I prefer full tang blades (like a real man) :D but I have not found "the one" when it comes to handle material. What are your thoughts? Pros and cons?

I really like canvas Micarta. I don't have many knives with it, but it is probably my favorite because it just feels right to me, and it looks pretty cool.

+1 for paper or canvas micarta and G-10. Micarta because it is beautiful; G-10 because it provides a terrific grip.

Love G-10. Polypropylene can be real nice as well. Havent found my absolute favorite, these are just two i like.

I really like G-10 as well. A smooth and good grip material at the same time.

Shitan wood. Grippy even under oily conditions, easy to clean, and grain looks awesome.

I'm like everyone else in that I like G10 for it's performance, and micarta for both it's look and feel. I just got a Sodbuster Jr in Carbon Fiber and have been admiring the looks and light weight of it. Wood is also hard to beat when executed right. I guess I really like about anything that catches my eye, but would go with G10 if I only got to keep one knife.

Lately I'm leaning towards wood handles. I like the traditional look and it makes each handle unique. Unlike micarta or g10 where they will look the same with nothing making them unique like grain or color variation.

both G10 and micarta are tied at 1st for me, although I have been known to choose G10 over micarta because of brighter color options. You can make/acquire G10 in any pure color (vibrant or otherwise) you can possibly dream of. Sometimes that just works better than the heathered look of micarta. Performance-wise, the difference not very noticeable between the two.

Ironwood. I went through a g10 /micarta phase, but I just prefer the warm feel and looks of a nice wood burl. Especially on a nice custom, nothing beats a dense hardwood like ironwood.

Here are some unique handle materials

This is my favorite scale material for a folder, beautiful and functional. I really need to pick up a fixed blade with jigged bone..

I'm actually thinking about customizing an old knife with jigged bone... or even a jigged horn of some type.

I love jigged bone. But Canvas Micarta has that indescribable quality. Grippy, comfy when wet, light. Plus as it takes on oils it becomes darker and somewhat uneven in color. Its like science and nature had a baby, and slaughtered it, turning it into beautiful knife handles.
