I have the short bowie EK Model 50 and love the blade shape, I can live with the handle length but it feels like I'm holding onto a twig with the thin handles.
Is there anybody out there making thicker handle slabs or liners? (I don't have the skills or tools!)

Yeah it's a pity the EK Model 50/51 didn't seem to get a lot of attention or much reviews on Youtube. Most people looking at this size and shape would rather pick up a Becker BK18 with a much nicer handle.

My google fu must be weak... there is a maker on Ebay "Carroll's Custom Knife Scales" who makes micarta ones for $40. I've asked if he can make them a little thicker. Of course that will also mean having to modify the sheath or get a custom kydex. Also not sure about the existing bolts too.

As is, the factory mounted are 0.645" handle thickness.

I'm more tempted to turn a set on the lathe that are more barrel shaped or make a set of kephart style scales to wrap around the tang

I contacted the maker and he's going to make some slightly thicker ones in canvas micarta, albeit in the same style as the originals.
I'll post some pics when they arrive!

Scales are done and on the way to me... very reasonable price and great seller. He listed them as "OVERSIZED HANDLES for Kabar EK-50 EK-51"
I live overseas so they will take a couple of weeks to get to me but they look great in black canvas micarta. I also ordered a set for my Kabar Harsey Fighter!
