i have removed handles on bm's and sh2's.
the screws are red loctited in. there has been no adhesive of any type on the slabs.
here is how i do it...
first i wash knife in boiling water (don't take micarta over 275 degrees! i have before!).
then dry and soak in kroil gun oil solvent for a day or so.
then try the freezer over night followed by boiling water.
soak in kroil again.
after you get tired of all this use some perfect and i mean perfect fitting screw drivers and remove the screws. i use drivers from brownells for gunsmithing. clamp the blade in leather in a vice. after all the above crap they should be fairly loose.
before i remove the screws i use a fine indelible sharpie marker and label all the heads on both sides of the knife. right, left, a, b, c, and index the tops of each screw.
these screws are ground down after installed and need to be put back in the same position to fit right.
i use blue loctite in reinstalling, i don't believe you would ever loose one even without.
this is a pic of a sh2 that i refinished myself, if you don't have the know how it is best to send it to busse, about 65 bucks and its a done deal!
