I noticed that these plastic handles (delrin?) are identical. All pieces, front and back, seem to have come from the same mold. The little texture marks are as exact as my naked eye can discern. If you have a plastic handle like these, are yours the same?? Just one of those goofy subjects for the knife-obsessed. I wonder if help is available:o ?? Do I WANT help  ?? NAHH :D !!

Hello Charlie,

Nice pieces, as always.

If that Russell is one of the made in 1974 (for '75 release) Commemorative Barlows (and it looks like it is), I'm pretty sure they were made by Schrade on contract for Russell-Harrington (now Dexter-Russell...but you probably knew that. :) ). Especially since Russell hasn't made any pocket knives since about 1930 something, IIRC. So, stands to reason the handles might match, as you've pointed out, to save a little $$ on the process.

The nice 1998 Russell Commemoratives were made by Colonial.

The German versions seen all over (Boker?) have more feathers, and a different arrowhead. Not as nice as either of the Commemoratives, IMO.

Hope that is of some interest.

Bill

DEFINITELY interesting, Bill, thanks!
Now some have told me the '98s were made by Camillus. Do you know for sure? Are those the sets with a regular and a Daddy?

About the fourth paragraph down is one bit of information from Colonial...

...and I think it was knifeaholic (sorry if it wasn't you k/a) who also had some solid information about these babies, maybe he'll check in.....

That is one of a couple of sets of the Colonial Barlows I own (set is #262, but some others aren't numbered), but I haven't taken my own bad pictures yet. :o

P.S.
SCHRADE.....(forum content).
P.P.S.
Well, sorry I didn't read your other thread Charlie. :o :o I guess I was just wasting bandwith telling you what you already knew. Sigh. :(
