How do you attach the blade to a Scagel style knife?I understand the hidden tang, but is the handle just glued on,and I can't see any pins on the ones that I have looked at.How is this done.

Thanks
Tony

I would expect the Scargel are like most hidden tangs. I just glue them in. I file some notches in the tang and sometimes drill some small holls through if the tang is wide enough to keep the strength.
The glue keys into the holes and groves.

I am not sure of any other high tech ways.

I notch the tang and, if the tang is large, drill a hole or two just as Reg suggested. This will create "epoxy rivets" to keep a good tight grip. I use two-ton epoxy to set the handle or 5 minute epoxy on a smaller knife.

What the others said + I use Brownell's Acraglas. I also (sometimes) put a pin through the handle and tang.

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it.Maybe when one of my blades survive my grinding attempts I'll get to use this knowledge.

Thanks
Tony

Scagel's were usually pinned through the pommel with a small brass pin. The newest issue of Blade magazine has some good pictures.
