Handle questions?

I am interested in redoing a couple of my bowie knife handles in a japanese style. Can anyone recommend a good source of materials? Specifically for the cotton/silk wrap and the rayskin. I was also thinking about purchasing a knife blank from Jantz Supply. Does anybody have any info on the quality of the steel, the rust-factor, and how finished the blades are. I am really only competent enough to sharpen the blades. Thanks in advance.
