On the FSHs; can someone please post a photo from the top of shaped handles next to mag handles. I'm curious about the difference in contour and would appreciate any Hogs taking their time to photograph and post such a request.

Also, what is the handle material on the old BBSHSHs? I've decided I would like to rehandle my ASH skinny that way if I can or have it done, solid pins and all. While I'm at it, I'd like to replicate the smooth coating. My guess is powder coat. I may just bead blast. I'll post pictures when I do.

Thanks - Brian

I think I am understanding this request as a top view of fusion style hand-shaped mag handles next to machined mag handles. I can't provide that with Fusion handles on the same thickness blades but the concept of comparing from the top will be very similar regardless of which handle design it is.

Edit: Actually, I just held up my hand-shaped saber FBM over the screen with the SFNO pic below and it looked identical to the bottom one. So this should give you what you need.

I have an SFNO with machined mags and an NMSFNO with factory hand-shaped mags that can help you see the difference since they are virtually the same blade thickness and handle design. The hand shaped mags are basically machined mags with the textures sanded off from everything I have seen though and that is about it.

You can sand down any machined mag to fit your hand better as this pic demonstrates. This is a pic of 3 different Skinny ASH-1 handles for comparison like you are asking for, only the middle one is not factory hand-shaped, but hand-shaped by me. It isn't quite as accurate as what I think you are asking for.

Machined standard handles vs hand-shaped to my liking (middle humps are sanded down a bit more is all) vs machined magnums

You are very welcome and I am glad I could help! :)

Don't quote me, but I was told the handles of the old school straight handles was green/black linen micarta.

Got mine down and yes, its a bit finer than the canvas micarta on my newer models so I'd say its linen.

Very well polished micarta. That's the best you'll get from me. It could be linen, but it looks too strong of a layered grain. I never really studied it to be sure. I think a good linen would be nice.

(What does Randall use? It looks sorta like that.)
