Handle removal

Not that I want to remove my handles but an Idea poped into my head and I need to write it down before I forget it. The pins(cups?) are pressed in right? Well, so are the pins that hold the links together on a bicycle chain. I have a tool that has a long slender pin on the end of a threaded shaft. You slide it over the chain and tighten the screw down, this pushes the pin out of the link and into a grove on the backside of the tool. Think it might work? It could be used the opposite way to put the pin back in.
