Handle removal

I am trying remove a bone stag handle from a WWII utility knife (using for parts)without breaking or splitting the bone. I'll then be using it to replace a broken handle on another knife. Anybody have any tips?

Remove the rivet/pin heads from the lining side.
This requires total dis-assembly of the knife first.
