I want to put a wood handle on my Cold steel master hunter. I use this knife alot and put it through some rough abuse so would like to know what kind of glue/epoxy might be good to attach the blade to the handle? I was also thinking of putting a brass plug through the laynard hole. Any advice?

Do a search for "glue wars". This was a post from several weeks ago and it helped me alot. Great comparison of different glues for metal and wood.

Be sure to rough up both glue surfaces with 36 grit abrasive before glue up, and clean everything with lacquer thinner. Pins through the scales and tang are a plus, will help to lessen shear stresses. You can find tubing for the lanyard hole at local hobby shops; take your knife with you to get the right fit. I make shallow grooves in the outside of the tubing before gluing it in to give the epoxy something to get hold of. Be sure to clean the inside of the tube with Q Tips and lacquer thinner before the epoxy sets up! ;)

you can also stuff paper in teh tube to keep the glue out. Then once the handle is sanded down pop out the paper.
I am too slow to clean while the glue is still wet :)

Thanks for the help, I'll give it a shot this weekend and see how it turns out, post a pic if I can get it to work
