Can anyone tell me what the ring at the end of a knife is for? The tang just continues off the aft end and forms a wedding ring at th end.

thanks!

Welcome to BF. For "tactical" reasons. I'd be afraid I hurt myself, so I stay away ....

As in a karambit style knife?

I believe they originated in Southeast Asia, probably a farming tool designed to aid in some sort of harvest and adapted to fighting.

Very useful for retaining the knife while using your hands for something else, like holding a firearm, flashlight, or other tool.

I bought one knife like that. The reason being I thought it might be nice to clip on a carabiner. It’s fully serrated.

I've got a Böker Accomplice, the ring is great when you wanna stab something, there's no way that handle moves in your hand

Haha, that's why God gave us teeth.... :D

Horsewright Horsewright has a sweet picture of This being shown for Real.
What a knife in the teeth whoda thunk it! The wife telling our ranching partner all about it.
