Does anyone know if the Böker magnum camp share the same handle slabs with the Beckers?
Anybody own both?

I'm going to suspend commentary until I know more.
Last time this happened, I went off on the TacTool pistol bayonet, and I had to eat crow. :o
I will say those slabs LOOK identical, and that sheath looks similar to the Camillus versions.

Large, tough and simple, this beast of a knife is well suited to everything but the smallest of handiworks. Comes with a very practical plastic sheath.

Böker has been making quality cutlery for a long, long time. Nowadays they make a wide range of modern fighting and utility knives. The Magmum Camp is a heavy, sturdy knife with a very versatile holster.

Construction:

Blade: 140 mm long, 5 mm thick, full tang.
Handle: Two thick plates attached to the tang, has a lanyard hole at the end.
Sheath: Riveted together from two pieces of plastic, attachment points for leg straps and ties.
Belt loop: Fixed, 9 cm wide, can be extended using the plastic ladder buckle. A snap strap secures the knife handle.
Materials:

Blade: Stainless 440 steel.
Handle: Plastic.
Sheath: Plastic.
Factory new, made by Böker.

Wow. If Ethan didn't have any part of that design, he should be outraged by the audacity.

I guess he must have part into it.
This model (among two other models) already date from 2008

I believe Böker bought the rights on the models of Camillus, and maybe made also a deal with Ethan (?)
Böker is a big company and don't make close copies without agreements ( that's what I assume)
It 'seems they don't distribute these models in the usa (so only for the European market)

I asked a retailer of both Beckers and magnums if they have the same handle slabs.
He said they didn't
I find it hard to believe because the sheath looks identical (to the old one) and using the same handles would also save on production costs.

The Magnums are no match for the Beckers since they use 440 (probably 440A) steel (with a Chinese heat threat)
But for low budget models they seem nice

It would be nice to get a definite answer about the scales

yeah, we went over this a while ago. it's not linked in the FAQ? shocked!

apparently due to various antics, Boker acquired a lot of old Camillus handles. they're the real deal. the handles that is.

Boker might also be under the impression that due to buying other licenses from Camillus (auction?) that they own certain rights to Becker stuff... i'm led to believe this is very incorrect.

now, whether or not they're making NEW handles, is unknown to me. shock number two!

as for the actual blades/steel, they do not, afaik, have the right to any of Ethan's designs. in any way shape or form. including making new handles.

imho, and strictly IMHO, Boker is on VERY shakey ground making blades that look like Ethan's, using his handles (whether obtained as surplus or not). imso, again, they're kinda skeezy and shady.

they're also somewhat responsible, iirc, for those BK6 clones as made in China but licensed by Boker, which are listed in the BK6 section of the Blade DB.

but if you want a stainless knife made in china, hey, go for it :>

Are the old Camillus and the new Becker handles compatible.
Could I put new custom made Becker scales on an old Camillus Becker blade

absolutely. including the KaBar grivory :)

heck, you could probably put KaBar grivory on that Boker junk :> though WHY is beyond me.

someone should let us know how well those Bokers work as thowing knives though :>

read the FAQs :> many pictures. good times :> post more! get your BH #. magical prizes.

and if you haven't seen the limited edition BK10, check that out. amazing. might be still time to get one.

ALSO check out the "BK12" aka Ritter Perseverance. amazing knife.

forget about Boker. forrrggeettttttttt.

oh, and buy a BK5 :> Knife of the Year!

Yeah, I won't be buying from them, but as long as the old style grips are being made I'm happy!

like i said, i don't know they are being made, and afaik, they aren't. old limited style stock.

Wow. Now you guys know why I don't like Böker and the other crappy german knife companies. Chinese made 440 knives for 30€, labeled as "tough survival knife made from stainless high performance steel", I am so fed up with all this bullsh*t.

You should make a video of a BK2 batoning through one of those and show it to everyone in Germany. Boker=:thumbdn:
