Hey gang,
I'm searching for a proper fit replacement handle for an Oxhead axe. It's the European felling axe, if that matters. I'm having trouble finding what I want.
As some of you may know, many of the Oxhead axes have a larger, somewhat funny shaped eye. It looks like a bullet or a squished "D" -- it's flat on the poll side, and the sides of the eye run parallel until it tapers to the rounded end towards the bit.
Anyways, I'm hoping to find a handle longer than the 28-incher that came on the axe. Something in the 30-35 inch, and straight. I figured I could find someone who sells stihl parts and buy a replacement handle for the PA50, which is a 30 inch oxhead handle. But, so far, I haven't found one. Stihl doesn't even show replacement handles as an option on their online catalog. A bit longer would be better, but 30 inches would be okay. It's gotta be a straight handle, though.
Any ideas? I've looked at quite a few readily-available handles (I keep a small pile of axe handles in the store room), but all of them are too small in one respect or another.
All the online sites that sell oxhead axes have handles, but not longer than 28 inches, and not straight.
Anybody got any good ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Ben
