i want to improve the friction on my aluminum handled knife, i figure clear epoxy [2 or 5 minute epoxy] onto the slab then sprinkle some sand or?? on it .... what other types of materials can i use? long term durability of the material is my focus, aside from that any tips on this process, hopefully something easy to obtain / thanks guys.

I've seen multiple posts from users who've used the 'friction tape' (or 'grip tape') for baseball bats/tennis rackets/golf clubs, for a grippy handle material. Easy to apply, and I think it's also pretty easy to remove/replace when it wears out. Commonly available, too.

Grip tape, or you can texture the actual aluminum handle, by sandblasting, stippling, checkering, etc.

i did cut alot of grooves already but it's still not how i want it
....mebbe epoxy and some type of small beaded media.

i didn't know about sandblasting thanks.

What knife, folder or fixed?

I'm guessing you want it to look good or decent? Epoxy and sand will look bad after a while. I'd cover it with bicycle innertube, or similar. Or, for a professional look, I'd media blast or pay for machine service to add some texture like a diagonal grid.
If you want ghetto, grab a file and scuff the aluminum.

what knife? can you post a pic?

here's an idea, i don't know if anyone has ever used it on a knife handle but duplicolor makes a product called bed armor.
