Handle thickness of GW?

I was fondling my GW today for the 6th time (mine has a .170" blade) and I was wondering if the handle on the thinner version was the same thickness. I realize that a .030" thinner handle isn't going to make much difference, but I am curious.

I know that some of the hogs have one of each. It there much difference in the feel of the two knives?

If the thinner model GW ever shows up on the company store I may try to snag one and see for myself.;)
 
I'm certainly not a hog, but I do own one of each of the black, tan, and snakeskin GW's.

Scales measured just in front of the forward tube fastener with a micrometer:

Black - .631
Snakeskin - .640
Tan - .661

They all feel identical to me, but the snakeskin does feel lighter in comparison.

my black is noticably thinner than my tan. hmmmmm black and tan's........
 
the black and tan doublecut should be exactly the same unless you somehow got your hands on one of the fbi versions :confused:

find some calipers and measure it please.
 
I have 2 DC/blk & 1 DC tan... Again scales are measured just in front of the forward tube fastener with a micrometer.

DC/Blk 1: 0.62 in.
DC/Blk 2: 0.62 in.
DC/Tan 1: 0.64 in.

FBI version? :confused: :eek:
 
i know i wasn't supposed to say anything, but they are a little different, and others have some with slight variations, but mine are .......

hmmmm, that sounds like a helicopt.........................................................................................................................................................

i measured again, it was that loose little metal thing at the end of the tape measure throwin' me off.....they measure the same now! ;)
 
well i just got off the tele with jerry and yes we are missing 3 of the fbi variations, better re measure

The tan is notably fatter

I have to be at the Federal Building this week. I can drop it off with the FBI when I'm there and save the shipping.

Skunk, I hate to say it, but my black GW's are also a bit thinner than my tan GW. I hope you don't need 'em back, I may have a hard time getting one away from my old man-he kinda likes it!

My gray cats paws are 1.6

Can I send the gray one to you (or the FBI) before he eats the black cat?

I was wondering about these two women one is C and the other DD. I like the look of the C but the DD are more comfortable (they both, C or DD, fill my hands just fine).

I was never into comfort so where can I send the DD to be matched up with the C?

Just out of curiosity last night, I grabbed the Mauser calipers and my tan GW. 0.674" just in front of the forward handle fastener.

So what's the deal with these, anyways?
