Handle Wafers on Florentine Kitchen Knives

Does anyone know where you can get these little "wafers." I've never seen this before. Those are pretty neat and quick to make neat looking/colorful patterns.

I occasionally make handles like that from scraps of Micarta. Just cut them out as squares, drill/saw the tank slots, then stack and glue them up.
