Where can I buy some handle wrapping materials? I'm not looking for exotic, high dollar stuff, just your everyday wrapping materials. Thanks.

I bought various colored paracords from ubraidit.com. The price was good, and there are lots of colors to choose from. It isn't the 550 lb type III (seven strand), but I figured that 400lb 4 strand was OK for a handle wrap.

Thanks Richard. Anyone else? If I don't get some replies I'll tell everybody you're all related to Indian George. Try living with that!! Do we do this the hard way or the easy way?

you talking about some flat, Japanese-style wrapping stuff?

Yes, that's what I'm looking for. I'm looking for stuff for hard use knives, not super expensive materials. Thanks. OK, your not related to Indian George.

wheewww. That's a load off. ;)

Contact Kathleen Tomey (tomeycustomknives.com) and she can hook you up.

Hey!!! What are you trying to say??????

Tom, please dont make such nasty remarks about my heritage! For flat wrap, go to a sporting goods store and get flat cotton shoe laces. They lay out flat, come in different lengths and colors, and really soak up epoxy. I think a 4" handle will use a lace about 50" long. My friend does lots of these and thats what he uses, they look good and they are inexpensive.

Tom:

Have you tried "Barbed Wire" ? It is a little tuff to wrap evenly, but it is really "grippy" if you can pull it off....
Robert

That sounds like a winner Robert. I'd make some for my brother in laws, but their shrinks said not to let them play with pointy things.

 George, the threat worked. See how the number of replies picked up? Your already a legend!!!!

I found some stuff that is about a 1/2" wide and about 1/16" thick at the sporting goods store in with the fishing stuff. I think it's used for Salmon/steelhead fishing. They only have green. I haven't tried it yet, but think it would work pretty good.
