I know this isn't a thread about the actual bladde, but it is relevant to handle ergonomics and grip and comfort... If this should be in another thread, if the Mods would relocate it, that's cool...

I've decided that a small handaxe is a wonderful tool for the northwest, but the bare wood felt kinda slick... how's this???

If you're saying that you did that wrap-work yourself, then I'm impressed enough to say, "good job". :)

Actually... I didn't - a friend of mine has a little side business goin' and she wraps some of the handles for some of the smiths in the Puget Sound region... I decided that it might help alleviate some of my concerns about how slick the handle can get as is... With the wrap, it's very secure and even helps with choking up - the turk's head knot halfway up the handle is an excellent grip point for more delicate tasks...

That is nice. Another solution that isn't so pretty, but is mindlessly easy is epoxy putty. You can form it right to your grip if you so desire, or to other shapes. It is also easily worked.
