Well guys, today I handled my very first Busse! I went to Fort Wayne which is a short drive from my house to Grindstone Cutlery and they had a NMFBM and I think its just the FBM the thinnest of the battle mistresses they made? They both had Magnum handles I am pretty sure, and they were so comfy, and the FBM was handled so awesome. They also had a Killa Zilla but I didnt handle that one. They also had a Son of Dogfather, which has been one of my grails, I didnt have the cash at the moment but it was a good price. Anyway I am still in "Shock and Awe" Mode. Anyone want a kidney? :D

Steel130, in case ya didnt know. If you ever need a super sweet kydex rig or a proper resharpen/refurb, the big guy who owns the place/works the floor is one of the best at it
If I had the extra cash I'd head over to Ft. Wayne tomorrow.

They arent open Sundays anyway :D

Pretty sure the owner was the one there. Bigger guy, had his right hand taped up. the SOD had an in house kydex sheath with it. The NMFBM was someone elses he was sharpening actually. I am going to work some extra days and hope that SOD sticks around.

And now that shop has got two people addicted to Busse..

*cough* Eric ;)

Thanks Eric. Just curious, do you live far from there? You dont have to be specific. To be honest, I didnt think there was a ton of people around me into Busse.

Yeah man, Im about 10 minutes away. There isnt a bunch of people I know of in the Fort that are into Busse(mainly bcuz they dont know of them), but I guarantee MANY more do these days since Mike started pushing them.

Kind of weird how many people in Indiana are getting into Busse. I kept seeing a dude I worked around at gun shows so earlier this year before the 1500 I went up and was talking to him a little. I didn't know much about Busse at this point and told him the only reason I was thinking of going was to check out some knives at the Busse both. I had no clue he had even heard of them and he ended up being a pretty big collector.

We've since became friends as nobody else around seems to understand the need to spend so much on these wonderful knives. Weird because we had worked around each other for like the last 14 years and never even spoke to each other much. If I'd have only known maybe I could have bought some of the awesome knives that he's sold in the past. Bums me out to even think about some of the ones he's owned and gotten rid of.

Thats sweet. Off topic, did you happen to attend the gun and knife show at the Fort today? One day I hope to own a Busse haha being a semi broke college bound kid makes it tough. I hope the B4 can be my first.

I've been going to the 1500 for as long as I can remember, and I only started noticing the Busse booth 2.5 years ago, when I started getting into them and they're been there for years :o

There are a lot more Hoosiers getting into Busse, which is nice but makes the trought harder :grumpy:

It is cool though some of the people you meet. After a while you see the same people and never talk to them. You find out they're into the same knives you are and they don't think you're crazy for blowing some big cash on them because they do the same thing. And it's nice when you start knowing the other vendors because they eventually show up at the Busse table as well.

Whats funny is when you meet up at KC or Blade and you didn't even know the other was coming. Then, your get really......really drunk :D

The 1500 gets better every show, the knife selection hasn't been great but it's the show and tell that goes on there and the....interesting....conversations that are had :D

Bobby, you need to start coming on Friday like a normal person....Hog... so I can finally meet you :D

Just 2 days ago I read our discussion in my Epic Fail thread when you said you were going to visit Mike a few weeks back. I was wondering whether you made it and why you did not post about it. I was a little concerned that you might not have had a good experience. Not that there should be any reason, as you know I highly recommended the store and Mike. But, I did once see a young hotshot walk in there and start shooting his mouth off about serrated edges and Mike told him in no uncertain terms that he did not know what he was talking about and then demonstrated to him why he was wrong. I quickly learned to ask questions rather than make unsubstantiated statements around Mike.

I am glad you finally made it and met Mike and handled some Busse goodness. That was where my addiction started also.

BTW - your Butch T video is hilarious. Some friends and I were watching it on Thanksgiving and laughing at your expense. I don't usually take pleasure in others' pain but considering that it was self inflicted, I thought it was OK to get a laugh out of it. Great yo-yo skills BTW. Now you have me researching a bunch of yo-yo's for my kids.

Yeah, there is a youtube video of Mike going to town on a piece of rebar with a serrated edge and compared to a normal edge. Then maintanance/rework of the somewhat fubar (not even that bad) serrated edge was definitly something nice to learn.

So are we forming an Indiana Busse support group?

"Hello, My name is David, and I am a Hog. This month I only spend $600 on Busse. I am on the road to recovery...."
