I made a knife and a handle but its crappy! Can someone please tell me how to make a handle for a knife? Also, my knife has alot of scratches on it, anyone know how to buffer these out? thanks...

There's alot of different kinds of handles, so we'll need to know what kind you're trying to make before we can tell you how.

For the scratches, you'll need to use a low enough grit to sand it out, then move up about 200 grit higher and sand the whole thing until the old scratches are out, then move up 200 and continue until you get it as polished as you want it. You'll want to sand in a certain direction, then when you move up in grits go across the last grit so you can see when all the scratches are out. After you're somewhere over 1000 grit, if you want it even shinier, then you go to the buffing wheel. Be VERY careful with the buffer, it'll catch any protrusions or edges on the blade and shoot it back into you if you're not careful.

Check out this link for more information about buffing.

Just like AwP said. My most common process is:

Shape using files, 100 grit, belt grinder, whatever....

Using garnet paper, hand sand with 220 grit, then 400 grit. Then buff with bobbing compound. The results is a luster finish rather than high-gloss. Looks very nice in my book.

Bobbing compound... I had to look that one up. Thanks for making me learn something new today, Steve. :)
